My childhood wasn’t what one would call happy. Don’t get me wrong—I had moments of joy, of laughter, fleeting glimpses of peace. But my parents’ separation, the financial struggles, the emotional turbulence that filled our home… It was a time of constant tension. Though I like to think I’ve grown into a normal, functioning adult, the weight of those years still creeps up on me from time to time, especially when stress, overwhelm, or anxiety knock on my door.
I pride myself on managing these emotions, but there are days when I long for moments of isolation. A quiet space to breathe, to meditate, to just be alone. If I were to paint the picture of my perfect retreat, it would be a secret garden. Somewhere tucked away, where nature wraps its arms around me, a small gazebo where I could read in peace, surrounded only by the soft chirping of birds. Hidden from the noise of the world.
At this moment in my life, this is all I can truly have—an ethereal, digital representation of my secret garden.
