I don’t always remember my dreams, but there’s one from childhood that has lingered with me—a vivid memory colored with wonder and possibility.
I must have been around six or seven. In the dream, I was simply wandering the familiar streets of my hometown, back when it still pulsed with a kind of neighborly charm that feels rare today. I found myself near a relative’s house, close to a bustling bakery we often visited. Everything looked just as it should—until it didn’t.
Behind the bakery was a small brick building, and on its side stood a gate I had never seen before. It was just my height, as if placed there precisely for me. Driven by the pure curiosity only a child could possess, I opened it and stepped through.
Beyond it, the world transformed. A secret garden unfolded—a narrow path winding along a sparkling stream, birds singing in the air, and exotic flowers blooming in impossible colors. It was a hidden paradise, so unlike anything that existed in my hometown. Yet, within that dream, it felt so real, so welcome… like the earth had opened a secret just for me.
When I awoke, I carried with me a rare sense of freshness and quiet joy—a feeling I can still summon if I close my eyes.
